I Will Make You Fish For People, Paper Cutout, Phillip Schwartz

As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea—for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me and I will make you fish for people.”

When we as a Church fish for people, we can’t throw back the ones that others might not want, we need to keep the whole catch if we are to be true to the statement on our sign that says, “All Are Welcome.” If any person has an interest in worshipping with us, we ought to make sure they feel welcome at the Lord’s table.

  1. The challenge here is how to handle the sharks: those whose wounds lead to anger and the attacking of others, making those others feel unwelcome.
